| The 9th FHS "Best Buddies Hong Kong" Movement Electric Cooking Competition cum Talent Show |
Having attracted near 100 teams comprising a total of over 300 contestants with or without disabilities to take part, Fu Hong Society had the Heat of its 9th "Best Buddies Hong Kong" Movement Electric Cooking Competition held on 16 and 17 March 2013. The contestants were coming from different secondary schools, universities, special schools, parent self-help groups, corporates, general public and Best Buddies from our Society and teaming up with our service users to participate in the competition.
The Final and Award Presentation Ceremony was held at Citywalk 2 on 21 April 2013. We were grateful to have the President of the Legislative Council, The Hon Jasper TSANG Yok-sing, GBS, JP, and eight Legislative Council members, including The Hon Emily LAU Wai-hing, JP, The Hon Frederick FUNG Kin-kee, SBS, JP, The Hon WONG Kwok-kin, BBS, The Hon Alan LEONG Kah-kit, SC, The Hon Michael TIEN Puk-sun, BBS, JP, The Hon CHAN Han-pan, Dr the Hon Helena Wong Pik-wan and The Hon TANG Ka-piu, Mr LAM Ka-tai, Assistant Director (Rehabilitation & Medical Social Services), Social Welfare Department, Ms Rhoda CHAN, Head of Charities Projects, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Ms Quince CHONG, Chief Corporate Development Officer, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, Mr Kevin YUEN, Chairman of our Society. Ten of them also participated in the "Star Cooking Performance" and made delicious dishes with persons with intellectual disabilities.
The Hon Jasper TSANG Yok-sing, GBS, JP, The President of the Legislative Council, thought that the activity was the most harmonious one among the Legislative Council Members from different political parties, the members would join the annual cooking competition of Fu Hong Society to cook with the persons with intellectual disabilities, aiming at actualizing the spirit of social inclusion.
We also thanked for Mr Chow Chung and Mr Billy Yeung, Committee Member of The Hong Kong Chefs Association, served as our judges. Our heartfelt thanks to the unfailing support of the Police Volunteer Group in these nine years together with the Citi Volunteers in these six years to help at the Heat and Final. The excellent talent shows, including dancing, Chinese drum as well as the singing and instrument performance by our service users and volunteers, had attracted many from the public to take part as audience, enhancing their understanding of persons with intellectual disabilities and promoting social inclusion.
A participating student expressed, "Persons with intellectual disabilities have their talents and abilities. Through this event, we could strengthen the understanding about them, and our cooperation has fully shown our team spirit. Whether we'll win or lose, we have gained much from this event, and hope that there will be more opportunities to know them more and join them in other activities."
A participant with intellectual disabilities told, "I'm so happy to join this cooking competition, I cannot only cook delicious dish, but also make new friends."
One of the judges, Mr Chow Chung, appreciated the talents of the participants that their dishes were tasty. Besides, he could see that persons with intellectual disabilities were so happy and strengthened their self-confidence in the process of cooking when partnering the students or members of Legislative Council, the event was so meaningful and hoped that everyone in the society would show more concern for persons with intellectual disabilities. Another judge, Mr Billy Yeung had a view that the standard of participants was high and their creativity in matching the ingredients and cooking method could encourage him to create new dishes. Also, it provided an opportunity for people in the community to understand more about persons with intellectual disabilities and in return, persons with intellectual disabilities could show their talents and meet more new friends that could help foster social inclusion.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the great support from CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP). CLP has been the co-organizer of our "Best Buddies Hong Kong" Movement Electric Cooking Competition for consecutive 9 years, besides, staff of CLP have also selected our Society as one of the beneficiaries of its "Safety Incentive Scheme" in the past 3 years, through which donation was made to our Society for the development of rehabilitation services for more persons with disabilities in need. The "Fu Hong Society 35th Anniversary Activities - Closing and Thanks Giving Ceremony" had been successfully held on 16 April 2013(Tuesday) at 7:30 p.m. at Jockey Club Auditorium, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. We would like to express our gratitude to Hon CHEUNG Kwok Che, Member of Legislative Council (Social Welfare Functional Constituency), Mr. Stephen SUI Wai Keung, Commissioner for Rehabilitation, Labor and Welfare Bureau, Ms Ellen WONG, Chairman of Board of Trustees, Wai Yin Association and Ms Cecilia LAM Siu Ling, Vice Chairman, Fu Hong Society for being our officiating guests. Their presence enlightened the program very much.
As named, the Ceremony not only concluded our creative and meaningful celebration events of 35th anniversary, but also gave thanks to Corporate Partners, Volunteers, Parents, Service Users, Council Members and Staff for their contributions made to the service development of Fu Hong Society.
There were 7 talent shows performed by our service users, including Chinese Penmanship Show, Band Show, Dancing Show as well as Magic Show, which fully demonstrated talents of persons with disabilities to the audiences.
The Ceremony was wonderful and unforgettable. There were around 700 participants coming with their happy faces and compliments. The Ceremony served as a perfect conclusion for our 35th Anniversary Celebration.
Fu Hong Society will continue the spirit of "Meet the Need, Take the Lead" for future service provision.

| Fu Hong Society - Sunrise Centre Opening Ceremony |

The Opening Ceremony of Sunrise Centre was successfully held on the morning of March 23, 2013. We would like to express our gratitude to Mr. Matthew Cheung Kin Chung, GBS JP, His Eminence John Cardinal Tong Hon, Mr. Au Lap Sing, Member of Southern District Council and Dr. Ip Yan Ming, President of FHS for attending the Ceremony and unveiling the plaque as officiating guests.
We had more than 100 guests participated and many smiling faces were seen everywhere in the venue. In addition to their attendance in the Ceremony, many guests also participated in the Sharing on the Action Research on User Participation.
Sunrise Centre would keep on promoting collaborations among stakeholders in the districts as a big thank to their support to us.

| The Opening Ceremony of FHS 35th Anniversary History of Rehabilitation Services cum Arts for the Disabled Exhibition |
The Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition has been held successfully in the morning on 2 March 2013. We would like to express our gratitude to Mr. Patrick Nip, JP, Director of Social Welfare; Mrs. Rose Goodstadt, MBE, JP, Former Deputy Director of Social Welfare; Ms. Ophelia Chan, BBS, Former Assistant Director of Social Welfare; Rev. Louis Ha, the archivist of the Hong Kong Catholic Diocesan Archives and the honorary advisor of the archives project of FHS; Mr. Leon Young, the emblem designer of FHS and Dr. Ip Yan Ming, the President of FHS for attending and supporting the Exhibition as officiating guests.
The exhibition is comprised of two main parts, namely the historical review on rehabilitation services and disabled art exhibition. History of FHS rehabilitation service will be exhibited in four stages (i.e. "Inspiration Period", "Pilot Period", "Development Period" and "Diversification Period") based on their own characteristics, demonstrating the spirit of FHS - "Meet the Need, Take the Lead". For the disabled art exhibition, there are 16 service units of FHS participating in the event. Service users use their daily favorite stuffs to make different works to celebrate FHS 35th anniversary. Apart from the art exhibition, an interactive art zone is set up and visitors can join the art creation with our service users, embodying the idea of social inclusion.

| The 2nd “Ambassadors of the Olympics of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities” |
To express our appreciation to persons with intellectual disabilities who process the personal qualities of “Courage”, “Friendship”, “Perseverance” and “Rendering Assistance”, Fu Hong Society has held an election for The 2nd “Ambassadors of the Olympics of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities” during October and November 2012. Response to the election is very enthusiastic. There were total 125 nominations received for the four awards. We hereby extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the adjudicators for their support and time to the election. Adjudicators include Ms. Cecilia Lam Siu Ling, Vice Chairman of Fu Hong Society; Mr. Lam Ka Tai, Assistant Director of Rehabilitation and Medical Social Services, Social Welfare Department; Dr. Paul Ko Yiu Shum, MH, Associate Professor, Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, The University of Hong Kong; Mrs. Laura Ling, BBS, MH, Chairman of Special Olympics Hong Kong; Ms. Christine Fang Meng Sang, Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service; Dr. Ferrick Chu Chung Man, Head of Policy and Research, Equal Opportunities Commission and Mr. William KC Chang, Founder member of Fu Hong Parents Association.
The awards ceremony was successfully held on 15 January 2013, 7:00 pm, at Jockey Club Auditorium, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Among the approximately 600 participants, nearly 100 persons came from Mainland cities such as Beijing, Nanjing, Shunde, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Macau. Officiating guests included The Hon Tsang Tak-sing, GBS, JP, Secretary for Home Affairs; Ms. Alessandra Schiavo, the Consul General of Italy; The Most Rev. Cardinal John Tong, Catholic Bishop of Hong Kong; Mr. Pang Chung, Hon. Secretary General of Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong; Ms. Chen Yinzhi, Chairman of China Association of Persons with lntellectual Disability and Their Relatives, Beijing Disabled Persons Federation; Mr. Li Yun Fu, Deputy Director General of the Social Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R.; Dr. Ip Yan Ming, JP, President of Fu Hong Society. | Caring Company Partnership Expo 2013 |
Fu Hong Society keens on connecting with different corporations and professional organizations, establishing close partnership with them as to build a harmonious society. This year, we have connected with people from different sectors and industries to explore new community partnership opportunities and CSR solutions through the Caring Company Partnership Expo, held by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service on 23 January 2013.
Besides, we have an exhibition booth about Madam Hong's Bakery, so as to introduce products made by persons with intellectual disabilities and Society's services, and many representatives of our supporting companies and organizations have visited our booth and showed their support on that day. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the companies and organizations for their enthusiastic support, and look forward to the cooperation with more partners showing care and concern to persons with disabilities.

| Media Lunch (10 January 2013) |
Since the establishment 35 years ago, our Society has been developing based on direction of "Meet the Need, Take the Lead" and the spirit of "Commitment. Innovation". Diversified services have been launched according to the needs of the community, enabling persons with intellectual disabilities, psychiatric disabilities and autism to achieve maximum potential and fully integrated into the community. The recent innovative services include "Hin Dip Centre" - for persons with autism and developmental disabilities; "Casa Famiglia" - small home for persons with intellectual disabilities to enjoy family life; "Best Buddies Hong Kong" Movement - for persons with and without intellectual disabilities to build up one-to-one friendship.
To enhance people's understanding on our services and the needs of community, we have organized a media lunch on 10 January 2013 (Thursday). More than 10 media have attended and interviewed our professional representatives, service users and family members, volunteer and staff, reporting our innovative services that meet the needs of community.

| The 9th FHS Charity Walkathon |
More than 1,000 participants with and without disabilities joined our 9th FHS Charity Walkathon at the Peak on 15 December 2012. Participants included corporates, organizations, schools as well as the general public, service users and their parents, and volunteers. Citybase Property Management Limited showed their continuous support and gained “The Largest Team” award for five consecutive years. They had 125 participants joined this year’s event. We would like to express our gratitude to our officiating guest, Ms. Sheren Tang (Figure 1), renowned artist to launch the charity walk.
We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the generous support from different sectors and the general public to raise fund for our services for persons with intellectual disabilities, psychiatric disabilities and autism. Our thanks also go to The Bank of East Asia, as well as various corporates, property management companies, organizations, churches, schools, consulates, newspapers and magazines for their help in publicizing the walkathon. We will continue our endeavour to develop the potentials of persons with disabilities and promote social inclusion through concerted effort.

| “Best Buddies Hong Kong” Movement Tea Reception – Thanksgiving to Partners |
On 10 May 2012, Ms. Brooke Switzer, Senior Director of International Programs, Global Headquarters, Best Buddies International visited our Cheung Sha Wan Adult Training Centre where she learned about our day training services for persons with intellectual disabilities. The afternoon featured a talk by our staff in-charge of the “Best Buddies Hong Kong” Movement on the most recent developments of the Global Headquarters of Best buddies International. Following the talk was the meeting with 160 representatives from different chapters/schools/corporates /non-governmental organizations/Shamshuipo District Council representative, as well as Council Members and staff of Fu Hong Society at the hall of our Society’s Rehabilitation Centre. During the event, Ms. Switzer was briefed about the one-to-one friendship movement for persons with intellectual disabilities, and Certificates of Appreciation were also presented by her to the participating schools.
At the Welcoming Tea Party, Ms. Switzer presented a Certificate of Appreciation specially to Ms. Wai Hoi-ying, Shamshuipo District Council Member, to thank the Elderly & Rehabilitation Services Working Group under the Community Affairs Committee of the Shamshuipo District Council, for their continuing support to the activities of the “Best Buddies Hong Kong” Movement in Shamshuipo district since 2005. Representatives from Secondary School Chapter, University Chapter, Corporate and parent of service user shared their feeling of participating “Best Buddies Hong Kong” Movement, enhanced the audience’s understanding of the Movement. She also expressed her gratitude for Fu Hong Society’s effort in promoting the Movement in the local context, and shared about Global Headquarters’ initiatives in setting up branches in different regions of the world, with the aim to enhance regional coordination, training and support work.

"35th Anniversary Celebration cum Cookies
Assemblage Guinness World Records (GWR) Breaking Event",
successfully held at Ocean Park on 19 February, was the prelude to a series of
social inclusion activities organized by Fu Hong Society to celebrate the 35th
Anniversary in 2012. We were honoured to have The Hon. Jasper Tsang Yok Sing,
GBS, JP, President of the Legislative Council; Mr. Matthew Cheung Kin Chung,
GBS, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare; The Hon. Cheung Kwok Che & The Hon.
Tanya Chan, Members of the Legislative Council; Ms. Anita Yuen Wing Yi, Renowned
Artist; Mr. Tom Mehrmann, Chief Executive of Ocean Park; Dr. Ip Yan Ming, JP,
President of Fu Hong Society as our officiating guests.
Fu Hong Society is committed to serve the persons with intellectual/physical
disabilities, psychiatric disabilities and autism with a caring heart and
innovative services, which could be manifested in this event. Over 50,000
cookies, made by the service users of our Madam Hong’s Bakery, were used to
assemble the cookie mosaic by more than 300 persons with and without
disabilities from different Corporates and our service units to break a new GWR,
and later share with the underprivileged to spread our spirit of caring.
More than 300 persons with and without disabilities hand in hand using 54,372
cookies, 1 inch x 1 inch, to assemble a size of 35m² cookie mosaic to break a
new Guinness World Record (the existing GWR is 16.53m²).
The event would not be so successful without the enthusiastic support from
people in the community. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Ocean
Park for co-organizing the event, renowned illustrator Siu Hak for designing
the graphic of the cookie mosaic and Mr. Alex Lee to be the MC volunteer, as well as the sponsors below:
